It has farms and orchards, older homes along US Route 1 (Lafayette Road) and Route 88, and almost 1,000 acres of salt marsh along the Taylor and Hampton Falls rivers. Dom’s Workshop, Inc is a residential general contractor based in Plaistow, NH, serving Rockingham County. Hampton Falls homes and their quirks

Historic homes near the Weare Monument and Route 1

Hampton Falls was settled in 1638 as part of Hampton and became its own town in 1726. Along Route 1, near the town common and the Weare Monument, there are farmhouses and older homes with timber frames, ells, and attached barns. Projects in these houses usually include structural repairs where earlier additions meet the original house, mechanical upgrades, and kitchens and baths that need to fit an old floor plan.

Farms, orchards and large lots

Much of the town is still open land: fields, orchards, and wooded lots off Route 84 (Kensington Road) and Route 88. Homes on these lots usually have a private well and septic and plenty of space, which makes them well suited to additions, attached garages, workshops, and barn conversions.

Near the marsh

Lots close to the Taylor River, the Hampton Falls River, and the marsh may be in flood zones or wetland buffers. That can affect basements and additions, so we check before designing anything.

Planning an in-law suite on a Hampton Falls lot

Larger lots make Hampton Falls a good place for multi-generational living. When a parent or adult child is moving in, here’s what we plan for:

  • Attached or separate? An attached suite with its own entry is usually simpler to permit and to heat than a detached building. We’ll go over what the town allows.
  • Single-floor living. A bedroom, an accessible bath, and a small kitchenette or coffee station on one level, with wide doorways and a low-threshold shower.
  • Septic. Adding a bedroom almost always means reviewing the septic design capacity.
  • Privacy and connection. Where the suite connects to the main house affects both privacy and how easily you can help each other day to day.
  • Future use. A suite that can later become a guest space, an office, or a rental (if permitted) is more flexible over time.

Garages, barns and workshops

On larger Hampton Falls lots, outbuildings are a big part of how people use their property. Common projects:

  • A new attached garage with a mudroom link and storage or a bonus room above.
  • A detached garage or workshop placed to work with the well, the septic, and the setbacks.
  • Barn repair or conversion. Stabilizing an old barn’s frame and foundation, then turning it into a garage, studio, or living space.

We look at structure, foundation, and use first, then talk through layout and finishes.

Permits and planning in Hampton Falls

Hampton Falls has its own building department. Most structural, mechanical, and addition work needs a permit. We can take care of permits for you and schedule inspections. Lots near the marsh may need flood-zone or wetland review, and we look at that early.

Hampton Falls remodeling FAQ

Can you build an in-law suite on our property?
Often, yes. We look at the town rules, the septic, and the layout, then design a suite that fits your family and the lot.

Do you work on older farmhouses along Route 1?
Yes. We assess the structure first and plan the work around the original features you want to keep.

Can our barn become a garage or workshop?
It depends on the barn’s condition and foundation. We’ll assess it on site.

Our lot is near the marsh. What should we know?
Flood zones and wetland buffers can limit basements and additions. We check them before design.

Who takes care of the permit?
We can take care of permits for you.

Do you build new homes in Hampton Falls?
Yes. We build custom homes on your lot, from your plans or with your designer, and we coordinate the septic, well, and permitting steps along the way.
